TeraSpan currently has a full-time employment opportunity for a Fiber Optic Service Technician to work with our fiber team to install and service our fiber optic networks.
Duties
- Determining the nature, cause and location of service trouble
- Performing network testing and analysis using an OTDR
- Completing test reports and maintain test and service records
- Performing Fiber splicing and termination
- Organizing and performing building installations
- Performing utility locates
Qualifications
In addition to the following minimum qualifications, preference will be given to those candidates who also have experience or education in conduit installation.
- Minimum 2 years experience with OTDR and Fusion Splicer
- Telecommunication Technician certification or equivalent on-the-job experience
- Valid Drivers License
- Comfortable working with power tools
- Enjoy performing both routine, repetitive tasks as well as highly analytical tasks
- Good manual dexterity
- Able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Possess good customer service and public contact skills
- Enjoy alternating between individual tasks and team projects
